fuel consumption and other
More than 2 years ago, I purchased a beautiful Japanese-made car from 1990 with an ej20g engine. The car had a 5-speed manual transmission. For more than 2 years, I have been struggling with the fuel consumption. In the city, the fuel consumption in the summer ranges from 13 mpg if the engine is not revved above 3,000 rpm. On the highway, I achieved a maximum of 23 mpg, but this was 2 years ago when I first purchased the car and drove it to my city. Now, in winter, when the temperature is between -5 and -20 degrees Celsius, the car consumes at least 12 mpg, with a maximum of 9 mpg when driving on snow.
During this time, I have replaced the oxygen sensor, the fuel pressure regulator, the fuel pressure is +- normal, I have flushed and sprayed the injectors, replaced the maf, but nothing helps throttle sensor fully closed 4.75 fully open 0.72 . The injectors are stock 440 cc gray, the turbo is a vf10, and everything matches the catalog. The ECU also matches the catalog .
I have a lot of questions about the gearbox that was installed by the previous owner. In the legacy liberty manual, the at/mt identification for the turbo is listed as 7 and 7, which means that the b48 20 pin should not be connected to the body ground in any case. However, another liberty diagram indicates that it should be connected. When I drive downhill with the pin disconnected from the body, I experience frequent mini-spasms in the exhaust. However, when I reconnect the pin to the body, the spasms are reduced by 99%. I also don't have the mt neutral position sensor connected, so it's always in gear. The pin is constantly on in the dashboard. How should I connect this pin correctly? I couldn't find anything on the forum https://dropmefiles.com/1Mpmz

The exhaust popping is from extra fuel. I think you found your issue. Connect the pin to the body. I don't think it matters where you ground it. It's not like the year is 1995 and some dealer tech will be confused because he expects to quickly probe something with a multi-meter to confirm a common issue or something.
I wouldn't worry about the neutral sensor.

but the bangs in the muffler can be caused not only by a rich mixture, but also by ignition and even by air leakage. I've already driven with the mass connected to the body, and the fuel consumption hasn't changed, at least not significantly.

Have you read the spark plugs, do they indicate rich?

I changed the spark plugs in the summer, and the color of the spark plug was more white than black, so I can say that it's a bit poor.

Welcome,
The link you provided didn't work. Is it still good? Do you have another way of sharing any photos?
Can you elaborate on what the previous owner did? Did they just do a 5MT conversion?
Did you read over my conversion write-up? The wiring pins may not be exactly the same but the process should be the same.

Yes, I read your article very carefully, and there is a discrepancy in the information in the manual, so I have some questions. in the new link, I've attached a photo of a possible wiring error, as well as a log that I recorded using evoscan, a photo of the air fuel correction table, and a photo of the injection time table. I'm confused because it's very small.https://limewire.com/d/NkGM4#1GLdwejC8M .the log entries indicate that the injectors are over-flowing, in my opinion. However, I personally tested the injectors on a stand in my garage. They had a good spray pattern and did not leak at 5 bar.I also have a problem starting on hot water from the first day of purchase, if the car is completely warmed up for an hour, then it starts very badly. The other day I conducted an experiment, after the car had been standing for an hour, I turned off the fuel pump and tried to start, the car started for half a second without turning on the fuel pump and immediately stalled. Then I connected the fuel pump and the car started instantly. It seems to me that the nozzles start to leak a lot when heated

I am also responding to your email. I use 95 octane gasoline, but I have also tried 100 and 92 octane gasoline, and the fuel consumption does not change. I have not checked for air leaks using smoke, but I have checked for leaks using a quick start, and no leaks were found. The vacuum in the system is approximately -0.65, which is in accordance with the manual.the previous owner didn't do anything except for the transmission, and everything in the engine is stock

Re: fuel consumption and other
Im no expert on 5mt swaps but could the ECU be the issue? if its an automatic ECU could it be putting too much fuel into the system at higher RPMs?

I'm not sure if the problem is with the ECU, but when I drive without a boost, the fuel consumption is still high

Re: fuel consumption and other
Today I was driving in diagnostic mode, after some time, error code 43 appeared. If I drive without grounding pin 20, as soon as I connect the pin to ground, the error disappears.
