Big plans for my turbo.. Opions.?

Post by turbonator »

Looks like I'm keeping this car forever.. I'm going to start off this winter by fixing the prolems it has right now..

I'm doing the timing belt and crackcase seals today and some other little things $$$ 100.00 for the timing belt? $20 for all the little seals.

Also removed the interior trim pieces cause the guy before me had painted the console and everything else siver I'm changing it to black.. I'm going to remove the seats and carpet today make sure the floor is rust free and shampoo and patch a hole in the carpet..

After All that I think I'm going to replace all my axles one at a time and wheel bearings. I also have to replace my control arms.

What else should I look into replacing suspension wise??? Does this car have rear control arms?? Do you guys replace anything with urathane bushings?

My shocks and springs have to be replaced but not this year.. What a good set up for this car. Can I run H&R springs??
Anything in the driveshaft that goes?? I'm going to buy a set of BBS CH rims next summer.. :D

Also I've sanded down all the rust spots on the car and I'm going to use POR15 then prime and paint.. But I would like to do a nice paint job in the future.

I guess that covers most of it.. Going to spend lots of $$ but it worth it this car and I got it for cheap..

You guys have any input.??

Yeah, I envy you for restoring as many little bits as possible, are you doing most yourself? or shops?

I'd love to, and plan on restoring as much of the car as I can, but money and me aren't buddies atm and therefore only major issues are on the todo list.

Future holds many more bills and installs I hope

Good luck, you should pic-dictate what you're upto and post away.

Well I just finished the crank seal and timing belt which I let my buddy do cause I'm a engine newb.. I not even thinking about the motor for a long time.. I've started and will finish the body work myself.. I pulled the interior carpet and all the floor has some surface rust I would like to get under control + the fenders rockers and wheel wells need some surface rust taken care of..

As for the suspension work I'm going to let my mechanic do most of the work cause I'm also a newb @ that stuff..

Whats the difference of a WRX subframe?? And what are these control arms your talking about.. I was just thinking maybe urathane bushings cause I already bought a set of control arms..

WRX's have different control arms, and the control arm connects to the subframe. The GD Aluminum LCA's are cheaper than the driect bolt-on GC LCA's.

Aluminum LCA's are just better than the stock stamped ones. They are lighter, stiffer, and stronger. They increase road feedback, and reduce unsprung weight.
