I drive most of the way to school, and bus the rest of the way, to save on campus parking costs, and the nasty traffic around the school.

I have to take issue with buses. I think they're overrated as far as efficiency and environmental benefits.

I dunno for sure, but I'm guessing a bus doesn't exactly get 30mpg. I'd say it gets pretty poor gas mileage really, keeping the bus cool and lit up, and always running in the city, and they use diesel fuel which pollutes more. Add to that the fact that not many people ride the bus (not around here anyway), and the traffic congestion they cause when they stop in the middle of the street to load and unload, I'd say that they're no more beneficial in fuel efficiency, reducing pollution, or relieving traffic problems than if all its passengers were driving their own cars.

The only thing I really have issue with here is people who deliberately drive gas-guzzlers (they don't even have to be SUV's, they could be Bentleys) and use enough gas to power 3 economy cars with, and then make the ridiculously selfish excuse that they're entitled to it just because they can afford it.

Where Im moving to (Vancouver)

The busses are mostly hybrids, or powered by overheard electrics. There are also light rails for long distance trips.

Vancouver is a city of around 2 million people, and the air is as clean as in the rockies.

Sorry, but that is wrong. Diesel fuel does not pollute as much as unleaded fuel. It just creates a more visable exhaust that looks nasty.
