YEs that is correct.

Well in a perfect world I would have you guys switch to the EJ20G solution and be done with it. That is what initially led me here was the people begggggging me to let them try it out

As more data rolls in, I will have a better handle on what to recommend if you want to follow this path. In addition to that, I am looking into what it would take to step into chip tunes for the EJ22T ECU. So best case, you would have both options, worst case it's the G route. I wouldn't necessarily take what I have now and adapt it over, I don't think that would necessarily give the best results, but that's to be seen.

Thanks to Drew for loaning his machine for testing. Is there a how-to for extracting the ECU? That thing is really wedged in there!

lol, yeah it's kind of a hassle. but if you remove the 2 nuts on the fuse box and pull the fuse box off their studs and move it over, you should be able to remove the 2 nuts off the ecu and just pull it out.

Got my +4 timing chip from Rob, and have about a half a tank thru that, and my EWG setup i fabbed up. Now that the ecu has learned a little, the car is F***ing fast. Im hitting 18psi tapering to 15psi, with no signs of knock, and good AFR's. Next will be to try the +7 timing map i got from Rob, and hopefully soon ill get motivated to install the 20G cams i have.... i think the cams will make a really noticable difference, at least i hope they do!!!

Hey Mike, so you're putting ej20g cams on n/a heads?

Actually I don't anymore. I suggest checking with JHOT or East Cost Swappers since they import a lot of JDM parts. They are all over ebay UK and scoobynet as well (also in the UK).

Yeah great results back from Mike. I would like to see how it runs with the 3rd map and see some dyno results!

Shortly after I posted, I got the ECU out. Man what a PITA. I am spoiled with mine being right under the passenger foot well on my impreza. I was able to extract the stock ECU code and build my own prototype board for testing an add on eprom. Apparently in my playing around I did something bad and think I killed Drew's ECU.

So now I am looking to find him a replacement. If anybody had one they would part with, send me a PM

Still it is a small bit of progress. Next on the list for the donor is to fit my 20G ECU with my super secret 4to2 ignition converter.

I have a ej20g swap with a ej22t harness and ecu. The car is auto right now but will be converted over soon. My question is if i were to purchase a ej20g ecu and run the auto would this effect anything if the 20g ecu was Manuel or would i have to get a auto 20g ecu?

Not much in the past couple weeks. First I was waiting for a replacement ej22t ECU which I picked up last week. In addition I had a national rallycross event this past weekend that I was preparing for (and yes, I did pull 1st place in modified awd

).
Now that that's all settled, I'm ready to get back to it. My next steps are to try my eprom add-in board prototype again (this time without burning out the ECU!). After that I'll do the rewire for the EJ20G ECU and give it a go. Drew's car is perfectly setup to try my tune on, so maybe I can talk him into hitting the dyno...
Also I have a few more spare EJ20G ECUs on the way for those looking for one.

In theory, the ECU shouldn't care.

Yup- figure when we get the final modified tune on there, we will hit the dyno at PIA and see what she puts down.

"Logistics/Costs
I charge $280 for fitting the chip to an ECU board, the chip, the tune and return shipping. Logistically, I either have the ECU sent to me directly, modified then shipped back, or I modify one of my spare ECUs, ship it out and have the recipient send back theirs. The second option is usually preferred as it prevents any downtime. The only hitch is that I require a refundable $200 deposit to help motivate the speedy return of the exchanged ECU."

yeah, that's just to chip our ecu but it didn't quote a price for buying an ecu was from him. I pm'd him about that price and got an answer then.

Nice progress rob. I look forward to when you release this. What is the differences between your chip and the revtronix chip?

cool, any updates? Was pretty bummed when revtronix dissapeared, I've got all the supporting bits and was hoping to up injectors this summer.
