Never said it was the same engine. It is far from the same engine. I just said same BLOCK...not shortblock, BLOCK...And I for one believe it is. I think that distinction is where a lot of people get caught up on this issue. People start talkng about the difference in components, which there are many. Our turbo Legacy sure didn't get forged pistons or DOHC heads with special valves, and etc... which the 22B got...

there's your problem. That's among the golden rules of forced induction. NEVER run w/ no intercooler!!!
there's tons of cars run w/o ic's (91-94 leg's), to make maximum power you need an i/c, but not just to drive it.

Hey Matt, can the block be the same but not have the oil squirters? I guess maybe I don't understand were those are, but I thought they were somehow built into the block, just below the lowest point of the pistons path, well, the most inner part of its path since it is an H4.

It could have been the same block without the extra machining done to install the squirters.

I would have to rephrase it as the most desirable Subaru of all times.

Indeed. Here's a summary:

Guy wanted ej25 turbo engine from japan.
Guy called a broker of sorts
Guy received ej22 engine with turbo charger.
Guy blames Fuji and STi
Guy is stupid.
Everyone replies
Topic goes off tangent.
