STi Shifter trim?

Got the boot in the mail today! SOOOOO nice. Art, you are the MAN! It even still has the leather smell.

I'll probably buy the knob next week or something.

This bad boy is going on this weekend though. Stock boot is cracked and looks ghetto.

Didn't order the trim, this topic got kind of derailed into me buying a new shift boot from Art, lol.

My bad.

I'll get the shift trim some time though, but a quick measurement of the top surface proves that this shouldn't be any problem what-so-ever.

I'm to dumb to figure out how to install it cleanly. I'll do a ghetto temp install until I order the shifter trim next week.

That's my ghetto rig until I get an STi shift trim.

The throw is so long on this thing, lol.

Wait until you get a Momo knob on there. It'll lower the point at which your hand rests on the knob quite a bit, making the throw a bit less.

Notice how I attached the boot? I just looped it over the tabs under the console. Uber-Ghetto.

That's actually how it went in my old Civic. There was a ring that snapped into place over it, though. . . sandwiching it down and keeping it firmly secured without ANY modification (or holes) to the boot. I'm thinking after you employ the looks of some trim down there, things should look very nice. (Just not sure how you should affix the boot to the console)

I will probably get a peice of scrap aluminum and cut a peice the same size as the STi trim. Then I'll just sandwich the boot between the console and the backing plate.

I think it looks pretty good

I was able to attach an APC (I'm a ricer now) shift boot yesterday using the stock boot as an attachment point. I left the boot attached to the mounting posts on the back of the center console and took the elastic bottom of the leather boot and hooked it around the stocker lip that borders the center console. Then I cut the stock boot leaving around an inch of it left protruding.

I'll have to get some pics up sometime, as it's hard to explan.

Looks good, tho. Doesn't "sink" under the center console like the one pictured.

I never ended up getting an STi shifter trim. I have better things to do with $75 bucks.
