Why has this thread gotten into such a discussion? Does anyone besides me and vrg3 himself understand what vrg3 is saying???

If you put RHD headlights onto your LHD Legacy, I don't give a rat's ass whether it's pre- or post-facelift, you have these two options:
1) Put the lights on as they are, unsafely blind oncoming drivers, and not see road signs on your right side...
2) Block off the offending beam pattern on the left headlight, no longer blind oncoming drivers, and STILL not see road signs on your right...

No matter what modifications you make, if you put RHD lights on an LHD car, you are not improving your illumination in any way, shape, or form. If you are looking for a permanent solution to the yellowing problem, and do not care about improved illumination, get JDM headlamps, block out the blinding beam pattern, and be satisfied with all this work which has produced lighting that is still garbage. If you want to get rid of the yellowing permanently without sacrificing illumination, get LHD EDM glass headlights, and then realize that if one rock flies off a truck tire and goes straight through the light, you're up a creek without a paddle.

Not meaning to degrade anyone else here, but it's blatantly obvious that vrg3 knows his shit when he talks about this stuff. He studies it to an extent greater than most people who do it for their careers, and he is studying it out of mere fascination! AND he still manages to pursue a Master's at the same time. When he has something to say, I for one perk up my ears to listen.

I even have to reluctantly concede that the pre-facelifts are terrible for lighting. I turned my lights off on an unlit highway last night and I could see almost as well driving by the reflective road stripes and guardrail tags that the side markers illuminated. So maybe its just that I can see pretty well in the dark so I don't notice how terrible the lights are.

Thanks for backing me up, guys.

I do concede though that pre-facelift LHD North American lights are not clearly better than totech's crippled RHD lights... It's kind of subjective. You get the reduced glare of a good headlamp but you don't get the good seeing of a good headlamp.

This post has turned into a sobering experience for me.

The leason is don't ever post anything on here with out doing countless hours of research on every tiny detail that may come up.

The funny thing is I am no longer getting them, due to problems with the seller.

I do thank all of you for your responses and knowledge on all things legacy.

I plan to be more carefull about what I post for now on.

but yeah, don't be afraid to post something. In fact it would be better to post something. Who knows, maybe the next idea you need help with someone will feed you some info to get it done. Plus it doesnt hurt to have an even larger knowledge base

Are you complaining about the responses you got in this thread? I can't tell. I hope you're not, since we were all helping you... Isn't that what you'd want?

I don't think it would have taken hours of research to uncover the fact that LHD and RHD headlights are different. In fact, you could have just started this thread to ask for help before actually bidding on the lights . Maybe that's the lesson to take from this experience? To inform yourself before spending money?

I'm glad to hear you're not getting these lights; you can instead spend about the same amount of money on heavy-gauge wire, relays, and fuses and get an actual perceptible improvement in lighting.

I understand... but I have also been somewhat familiar with European lighting systems for a while... and am smart enough to know the differences between lhd and rhd lighting systems...
