Are you talking about a stock-type sensor or wideband? The stock O2 sensor on an SS is located about 0.5" from the turbo.

Update -
I installed my wideband in the stock location and it seems to work ok. Haven't noticed any problems yet.

I was getting AFRs of:
* 14.5-15.0 at idle or light cruise.
* 11.x at WOT
* readings all over the map during a gear shift (rich or lean)

I got those readings with the O2 input to the ECU disconnected, then I connected the "simulated narrowband output" to the ECU's O2 input and got basically the same readings.

AFAIK that seems right

Sam,

What wide band do you have?

Zeitronix meter, which uses a Bosch sensor. Seems pretty cool so far... but I only have about 5 miles of experience with it.

Thanks.

Looks pretty cool. Let me know how you like it.

dzx - Yes, in principle having the sensor too close to the ports could make it read rich.
