Innovative tuning: your not too far at all, next time i go to JA i'll ask yoshio about the autronic plug in ecu... I know he's installed an autronic full standalone ecu in a friends 2000 legacy so he should be familiar with their products... I may decide to go this route as well if all works out...... power is all about tuning

Do you run any canadian rally events at all?

IT, didn't know about you! I'll definitely check you guys out, since you're a lot closer (and I actually know my way around Buffalo, unlike Toronto...).

Coolness. I'll send ya a PM.

Parts, Install, Service, Fabrication - exhaust, IC piping, intake piping etc. (plus I have some guys that make cages and harness bars for me locally), Engine Management Tuning, 2WD Dyno Dynamics Chassis Dyno. AWD street/track tuning with wideband is available. We focus on Subaru, Mitsubishi, Honda, but get into other cars as well.

We deal with Autronic standalones, but I haven't had my hands on the 95-96 WRX plug in to know if that will work in a legacy SS.

I haven't done any Canadian rally events, but if our schedule permits I'd love to.

Sounds good. We're very easy to get to. If you're on the Thruway (route 90) westbound you take the route 400 exit right after the downtown Buffalo exits and we're a 1/4 mile from the Transit Rd. North exit.

I'd be up for a meet if it's on the US side. The rally car is "street legal" but hitting border crossing with it isasking for trouble.

Autronic makes universal standalone ECU's as well as plug and play ecu's for a few cars, an amazing ignition box, wideband o2 meter, and some other related parts.

I'm trying to figure out if the plug and play standalone ECU for the 95/96 WRX will work in a 90-94 Legacy SS. I have a call into the US distributor for Autronic, but haven't heard back yet. I'd like to see if there's a plug and play option before I go wiring up a universal unit.

Let me know if you want a new or used bumper.

Well... Does the Autronic have its own MAP and IAT sensors, or does it somehow use the MAF sensor? If it's the former, that should be good.

And can the Autronic be told to drive a waste spark coilpack instead of individual coils? If so, that should be good too.

Aside from the very limited MAF sensor and the waste spark ignition, the 91-94 (no 1990 model) Legacy Turbo's ECU is externally pretty much the same as the early WRX's.

The autronic standalone has it's own MAP sensor built in, but I'm interested in the plug in unit which uses stock sensors. It runs in speed density mode for tuning, so the MAF isn't an issue.

The early WRX's had 4 channel ignition? If so then I'll throw a 4 channel ignition on my legacy. That's not a problem.

I'd say I'm 95% sure the WRX Autronic setup would work on a Legacy Turbo then. You probably just have to switch it to waste spark mode, or convert to coil-on-plug as you say.

Kelley, of Perfection Motorsports (look in the Vendor Garage) does sell an Autronic setup for the Legacy Turbo already, I believe.

As I mentioned earlier, I'm an Autronic dealer myself, it just seems that the distributor doens't know if this will work because they don't have this car overseas in the same form we do to try it. I'll see if they can send me one to give it a shot.

Yeah, proper tune. That's why I'm thinking a new reflash.

Modifications? Unfortunately, unless you're gonna go custom, there's no alternative to using the EJ18 fuel rails if you want some bigger injectors on an EJ22T.
I know im a little late on this one

There is another alternative, the 1st gen jdm wrx motors came with 450ish injectors and they'll drop right in.

Zuh? 450cc/min side-feed injectors that will fit the Legacy Turbo fuel rails?!

Please confirm so I may commence rejoice-ment and jubilative measures...

Which model years WRX do these come on - is JDM an aftermarket manufacturer?

JDM - Japanese Domestic Market. He means first-generation Japanese WRXs. I'm not familiar with that model, so you'd have to do some research on your own (or wait for someone else to reply) to find out what years that is.

They are 440cc (yellow tops) and they DON'T drop into the EJ22T fuel rails. They drop into 92-94 EJ22 (N/A) fuel rails. The 92-94 N/A fuel rails are an easy swap though.

Ohhhh thats different. I already knew about that. But try finding a Subaru in a junkyard here! I've been on the lookout for those rails for a while now...

So the rails changed between the 90-91 NA EJ22s and the 92-94 NA EJ22s?

Yes.

Guys,

Do you have any idea whether the '04 USDM STi fuel rails will fit a '91 EJ22T block? I can get them along with the injectors fairly cheap, so I'm wondering if this swap will be possible (or if I have to look for older Impreza 1.8 fuel rails)

Thanks,
Peter

i cant say yes but i think they will fit, i orderd them with my sti injectors and i had the 1.8 rails on hand but it was easy to put togther cuz the fule lines bolted right up.

Perfect!

Thank you for replying :)
You have an Impreza with a EJ22T, right?
Are the STi fuel rails much better than the EJ22T ones?
