Heavier people wear out shoes much faster, too. A weight lifter roommate I had (all-muscle 275, 6'3") used to go through shoes every 6 mos. while I wear 1 pair 99% of the time that last a few years.

I'm not fat. I'm in the same boat as Steve.
I usually just buy new shoes, when the ones I have get to dirty, or crusty, or worn through the back.

I'm usually forced by women to buy new shoes because the old ones look like shit, but they still work and are very comfortable. Shoes, OK, but good thing they're smart enough not to dare with my car.
