No problem; let's cross our fingers that one of these parts is your culprit. Image

Here is a link to some pictures I took of the plugs.

If anyone can get a better idea of what is going on in my enigne please clue me in.

There is no water in the oil and no oil in the water.

There is also no loss in coolant.

Hm. The lower right plug looks like it's barely ever been fired. The lower left one looks less used than the upper two as well.

Are these how they were sitting in the engine? Cuz maybe this does lend some credence to the idea that your cylinder 1/2 coil wasn't firing.

The way you see them is how they came out of the engine.

I notice that 2 of them were pretty burnt and the other we fairly decent.

Hopefully the new coil and ignitor I bought from Vikash will fill the bill.

yes the plugs look terrible. either just the misfire making them look bad, or you may have some blowby or valve issues

have you checked compression ?

i'd throw those plugs away

Wow..check compression. Yall must think I really want to keep this car that bad. If the plugs, coil, ignitor and MAF don't fix it she is gone.

I like low maint kind of stuff.

Ok....heres the latest.

I installed the coil and ignitor, fired it up and no change!! Just out of a hunch I installed a new Injector I had kicking around into the drivers side front rail. Fired right up, purred like a kitten. I drove it for less than a mile and it was back to running like shit. I get home and start checking stuff, I go to fire it up again and it made this loud clunking noise like the engine siezed up. I left it for a few minutes, came back and it did the same thing. Clunk! Clunk!! CLUNK!....Vroom! sputter, sputter, sputter....running like crap!
shut it off, turn the key and CLUNK!!!! WTF!!!!

Anybody want to take a stab at what that clunking noise is?

I am in desperate need of a running vehice so I am just going to part her out. I don't have time and money to keep messing with it.

Clunk as you shut it off? What do your motor mounts look like? Have you been driving like an asshole lately? (That hurts the engine when it's not bolted down and/or has bad mounts.)
So you're really gonna part it this time, eh?

no no no....It went clunk when I tried to start it and acted like it was siezed up....Something went wrong inside the engine.

If it were an interference motor, I'd guess the timing was way off, but I don't know with this.

I was thinking the same thing. There is no indication that something has gone horribly wrong. I have yet to pull the pan either....kinda scared. I'm parting it out anyways so I guess it doesn't really make a difference.

I am just sad to see her go. I was hoping I would get atleast 300K. She was a trooper. Everyone knows how much I loved that car. She is my first Subaru but not my last.
