I'm keeping the old one. Vikash is sending me a newer coil and ignitor so hopefully I will breathe life back into her. I am getting the DL I mentioned first in this post and if all goes as planned, getting this one too. I want a driveway full of roos.

Yeah, my 88 and 89 brochures both have hatches in them...
As far as your FI EA81T and your hardtop 4WD, I think the only thing that can explain it would be the fact that Subaru will throw out some weird shit on their cars and never do it again. Examples: Josh's 90 wagon with an MT and ABS, which supposedly wasn't available; my old headlights on Patti, which had the little wire bracket that holds H4's like the 92-94's but I still have 9004's...
I also think postal wagons were auto only.

EA81's are much easier to work on. More room, less hoses.
All turbo EA engines are FI as far as I know. I don't think FHI was silly enough to try it without having FI. '84 Brats (I think that is the turbo year, might be '83) had FI. This also why I don't like using "FI" for "forced induction". lol
EA82's have the hydraulic lifters just like the Legacy, which are a pain when they start ticking. The water pump is also behind the timing belt covers...... but is NOT driven by the timing belt. Lots of work for no reason. Crank pulley removal, yuck. But I do like the extra 1000rpm of redline and the engine is much smoother up high with the OHC, it wants to rev easier.
