is an 8-ball of crack worth it to a crack head after he finishes it???

i told my friend this the other day. i want the biggest turbo and my friend asked why. i told him, "because when it comes to power, im like a crackhead"

^^^^^^^^ hahahahahahahhahah.

92BlackBeauty its so worth it,

u need a huge intercooler i port & polished my heads, huge down pipe with no cats no muffler strightpipe + headers, blow of vavle also.

get rid of all the jumbo mumbo in the air intake system short ram k&n, keep the factory 90 90 on there and make a stright pipe with k&n and maf to turbo 90 90.

i got rid of abs power steering air conditioning, i ripped out everything in the trunk and the carpet and the sound def stuff.

i turned up that little factory turbo so high and gave her like shit. IT WAS WORTH IT.

now its getting out of hand bigger this bigger that dohc heads huge turbo huge injectors every thing to monitor life in the motor, 800lb less of a car. its all worth it becuse im still going.

Sure, I ran it for a while without problems and it was fast.

Alright, now I can almost feel myself becoming another notch engraved on the search stick as I type this, but which of the tdo5's is a direct bolt on, if any? Also, what is the highest I can safely run my stock turbo non-intercooled, and then with an intercooler?

Nico, the only thing that you mentioned that actually increases power is porting, intercooler and exhaust.

Polishing heads actually will lose power, as the fuel doesn't atomize as well, short rams just ram hot air into the motor, blow off valves just cause the motor to run rich.

The deadbolt 16G with the 90 degree inlet and the older jdm wrx's that came with a 16G had 90 degree inlets and there is also the IHI VF8 turbo that is pretty close to a 16G. I ran my 16G at 12psi for a while without an intercooler and didn't have any problems but i don't know how safe that would be for you.

555BCTurbo first of there just ported i say port&polished becuse i geuss thats what they call it, if you look at my heads there ruff thats the way my dad did it.

second no cats makes huge power a intercooler makes even more power, my home made down pipe made even more power + dc sports headers t-bird vf11 hks blowoff vavle running 18psi reflashed ecu big fule pump and short ram as you call it makes power. no power steering no ac no abs and a shit load off wieght striped out

just that stuff alone in my legacy turbo could smoke stis motorcycles big block v8s, it was amazing.

for the cold air intake i cut my hole fender open just like i did when it was all in my legacyturbo, there is no hot air getting in my intake at all

Nick - I must disagree, polishing heads on the exhaust side is somewhat useful for flow.

Although yes the intake side should be rough to assist in fuel atomization.

That's what i did with my wrx heads, i polished the exhaust side and left the intake side alone.

Is it possible to run the stock vf11 at say, 15 psi? with an intercooler, what is the stock turbo safe to run at?

by free5ty1e
I've run the stock VF11 at 15 psi intercooled. Felt great, A/F ratio was still pig rich as usual.

That's about as high as I would go, EGTs started approaching 1600 when I tried for 16 psi on the VF11.

The VJ17/VF11 hybrid was fine at 16psi though.

as a side note on EGT's, when i add all my gagues, what temperatures should I be looking at with the stock setup?

The ECU likes to keep our EGTs down around the 1500 range when on full boost. 1600 is when trouble begins, as I understand it.

My EGT type k thermocouple is in the #3's exhaust flow, before the turbo (obviously), because when I installed it I remembered reading somewhere on here that it was last in line for fuel (and I confirmed this).

Of course, now that I suspect #3 has a burnt exhaust valve, that's probably not the cylinder that'll go lean first anymore.

It will no longer be a problem when I either:
1) get a chance to remove the valve covers and check the heads out & replace the burnt valve
or 2) get a LegaCU prototype working with the separate EGT monitoring for each cylinder.

Both will probably be happening sometime this summer :-D

Yeah, I was talkin' intake side yo!

Nico, unless the motorcycles you are picking shit with say "Honda 50" on the side, you are full of it!

Go race a Hayabusa...and see what happens... :P

Do you think 15 psi would be safe to run without an intercooler?
Also, I still have to find a way to build/improvise an FCD.

no. 15 psi isnt even considered safe with an intercooler. that doesnt nessairly stop me from doing it but it still isnt safe

555BCTurbo listen to me, i owned my subaru turbo legacy for 14 years now, i no you just came in to the subaru world (5 or 6 years my pick even 10 or 12 tops) dont tell me what i cant beat and what i can beat.

i have more turbo legacys then you seen in your life. i wont even count the other five other type subarus i have.

soon i am going to have a dyno sheet of the 22b motor I BUILT that has been with me for 14years and a half a million miles.

im a veteran, I have more subaru legacy turbo parts then subaru north america has in stock. i got dubles trippels of brand new parts for my motors, you must ask your self he must race in rally or something, NO I RACE in my MIND and when i blow up i go home and build it agian, so im back raceing IN MY MIND agian.

Yeah I guess 15psi on the stock turbo isn't generally recommended, but I've done it. Repeatedly.

I'd also like to see Nico race one of those 8-9 second street bikes I see at the track; I'm not saying he can't beat them, I'd just like to see it.

Nico - when I race in my mind I usually don't end up with broken parts. I've GOTTA try some of that canadian herbage :-D

free5ty1e hahahah i race these bikes on city streets 1st 2nd 3rd then they win, but i still got them from a 0 to 100kms, they all ask me what the fuck is this car and i tell them its a subaru, its a really good sales pitch becuse they want one after hahahahah.

when i say in my mind i mean i dont rally our any type of motor sports its just daily driving.

The DSM cars here aren't really too heavily modified, honestly you would be pressed to find a front mount intercooler on one of them. I'm positive that I could pull faster quarters than those fools.
Who's word? Myself, Matt, and Vikash have all blown our transmissions recently.
just replaced mine too.
I'm in search of one right now. And my car is only slightly above stock power. Our stock trannys suck for any kind of modding. Im sure if you drive it like a grandma it will hold out fine. But I don't know of any grandmothers that mod. And I don't know of too many on this board who mod and don't drive spiritedly every now and then..

Nico - awesome man, if I can make it up to your part of Canada sometime you've got to let me ride shotgun. The bikers' faces must be priceless.

er.. do you have a passenger seat?

I thrive on knowing what kind of potential my cars have once I can really start working on them. Just being able to keep up with street bikes is a nice ability, you can watch them risk their lives up close. I can't own a crotch rocket - I'd kill myself on it. I know me.

It's been over a year since I've been to an official track, I've only ever drag raced officially. I have to open up the throttle whenever I've got open road or have to merge, so at least I get my fix somewhat.

I think it goes without saying that the pissing match needs to end between Nick and Nico. There won't be anymore of it in this thread, right guys?

As far as stock turbos and non-intercooledness go? 10psi would be alright I'd think. I ran 12psi on the stock turbo with the stock exhaust. I opened up the exhaust and ran 16psi on the stock turbo. Then I went 16G and ran 16psi on that for a while.

For now, though, I'm back to a lowly 9psi.

But soon, there will be reckoning.

Jared, you blew your tranny up? For rizzeal? Dang. That sucks yo.

Not yet, but it's a ticking time bomb. Second and third are still pretty bad, even after swapping in some redline gear oil. Some times it just want to go into 1st or reverse. And anytime I shift into a gear with a little bit of power, there is an unsettling chunk and a thud as it goes into gear.

Psychoreo im glad you like them.

free5ty1e if you ever come up this way sure, shit i will let you drive it if you want.

for the bikers i sit at a light rev my boxer which sounds like a v8, they look and shake there head like there going to kill me or i am some stupid person, when its time to go i take off so hard off the line they look at me and miss there gear or dont rev all the way, bye that time its to late an there asking me question about the car that beat them.

free5ty1e thats why i dont have a bike i am scared i will die on it, so i made my subaru fast and safe. the worst fear is rocks on corners on a bike even on a mountian bike i get scared.

BAC5.2 im done its just nick likes to bust my balls for some reason lately.

snowboarded + everyone on this board please listen to me, use factory spec basic gear oil 80w 90 in the tranny and change it 3 times a year, you all no i drive hard + i broke my 5mt five times for all you guys to no dont use anything but basic 80w90 and 3 changes a year.
