Really? What else are you interested in and why isn't this box right for it?

Would you consider taking a rust-free Sport Sedan in exchange for it? ;)

Sam - I'd like to go straight cut PPG dog in a WRX case so I can easily switch from AWD to RWD depending on my mood.

Vikash - You don't know how much I'd love to, but I'd need the money to replace this gearbox with a new one. If I got your other car, I'd have to build a paddle-shifing monster.

What makes the WRX case easier to switch between RWD/AWD?

Can the drive switch be done with a synchro box or only the dogs?

I dunno, probably around $3500 or so?
If you're serious, PM me.

The drive swap could be done on either a synchro or dog setup.

The WRX has the stepped center diff, so I'll need to work around that, but I'm not concerned.

Before selling this tranny, I'd like to give it a full shake down to make sure it's solid.

The WRX makes the drive swap easier because I already have a welded WRX center diff, lol.

So you mean you have to swap center difs, then. I thought there was some way to lock out fwd that I couldn't figure out from the cockpit.

haha, yea center diffs must be swapped.

After driving a dogbox, and after driving a synchro box and having a good bit of time on each. I feel confident to say that a PPG synchro box can be shifted every bit as fast as a street car would really want to shift. I was able to RIP through the synchro box without so much as a grind or pause (well a pause).

You have to relearn entirely how to shift when you drive a dogbox. There's no going into gear, just in gear or not.

You yank or push the shifter, and you go into gear, no delay, no questions, just shift. If you go clutchless, and under WOT, it's simply acceleration. No real noticeable pause. Just a voilent CLACK, a 1500 RPM drop in RPM and a continuation of acceleration.

The coolest part, is that when shifting like this, boost hardly falls. The gauge slams to vacuum when the throttle is closed, but since you are opening the throttle before you even close it all the way, you just go directly back on-boost. The turbine doesn't have time to slow down. It's a very cool feeling. Acceleration is like in an automatic, only with less sucking.
