Copper, nickel, precious metals are huge. Aluminum's gone up, but still not worth it around here. My pool was probably only about $80 and counting gas and aggravation to get it to the recycler it wasn't really worth it. But, if this project looks hopeless or too difficult after checking out the airframe, I figure worst case I sell the airframe for scrap value and not lose much. I'd hate to do that, though, for many reasons.
Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.
This might sound like a crack head idea but what about a Jet boat hull. I would assume that you coudl flip the hull upside down and use it in a similar fashion. It seems as if it would be more fab work but I would imagine that it could be made to have nearly the same weight and strength.
A long time ago I met a guy that did special build orders for racing jet boats. He called one an "egg shell" hull. It was extremely strong and light material, able to withstand open water speeds in excess of 160 mph. I'm not sure how common these are.
Just an idea.

More money, but my interest is aerodynamic efficiency. When I go for that much fabrication, I'll be building my own designs, but I'll use this as a prototype first. I'll need to hand form the nose so I'll see how that goes as far as moving on to a scratch-built vehicle.
