I agree with you guys, it's VERY hard to find a mechanic worth taking your car to. EVERY time I have left my car at a shop to have ANYTHING done, they have fucked something else up. That's why I like learning. Gives you something to do, saves TONS of money, and there is much more pride knowing that you solved your problems instead of someone else.

My mechanic was great until he decided to drink himself into a coma over an unattractive woman who dumped him for some drug addict.

Well, at least I'm not alone (hardly).
I can't believe the guy didn't give the "new" water pump a visual before installing it.
I'm not even a professional mechanic and I stare at stuff just in amazement that we idiot humans
can even make these machines , for the most part, work.
And then to tell me he had to tear it all apart to put a "good" water pump in but he didn't even inspect that one.
I'm looking at the one he put in and when I show him what he did (why else would I put a new timing belt and water pump in after 45k unless someone like him screwed it up , so he can't say someone else did it(he can say what ever he wants,actually), well, I can't wait to see the look on his face.
Small town shop in the middle of town........reputation , indeed.
Won't have much left of that once I get done talkin' and a few phone calls to the BBB.

Unless, he coughs up about $424.93 for what the actually professionals at Eastside Service Center fix what he did.
These guys are gonna do the same job, properly, for $200 less than he charged almost three years ago, too!

Of course , If I had a spare car and a secure garage, I'd do the jobs that take more than a day to do(gotta wrap it up and secure the tools and car before sundown, etc...).
Luckily, I at least have a garage and the tools but garage just doesn't have any doors(the landlord isn't gonna get around to that anytime soon and I still don't have a spare car,etc..).

Hopefully, what ever piece of this hole he chopped out of the waterpump inlet isn't lodged too far into the waterjacket.
I believe that's what happening, though.
Replaced everything else but the waterpump., which is probably fine, and the engine block

I would think that with the water pump removed, they may be able to shoot water in from the top side of the engine coolant crossover to flush the piece out.
