yes it has.... mileage is about 18mpg city and highway
plugs and wires have been changed also an UR pully
thinking it would help with gas mileage. It also seems
as if its unable lay down the power sometimes...
sometimes it will pull hard but in the same situation
later it will rev freely but wont pull like it did
before.... any ideas?

pcv valve

Josh-some info from my personal experience (I`m 57 going on 27) + some sound advice from Robert @ www.forcedairtech.com. 1) keep your auto + the frt whl drive-lemme `splain: the cost to go 5-spd + AWD done right could run as high as $6-7,000 easily; your money could be spent much better elsewhere. You probably have a 3:70-1 or 3:90-1 frt diff which are ideal for a turbo; the only other option you might want (if it`s reasonable) is an LSD. Kaaz may have just what you`re looking for. 2) If your NA motor is in good shape (mine is with 164k), the 9:5-1 compression is perfect for the street. You`ll have enough low-end torque with a quick-spooling turbo & that compression to AMAZE your friends & neighbors. Unless you plan to go drag racing & run in the 12`s, this`ll be all you need to start with. We all know what usually happens down the road (ie. speed/horsepower) don`t we? Walk, then run. 3) Add the following to make the whole package work: Borla or STI headers-you can run the up/down pipes after the collector (that`s what Robert`s kit does)-2.25 to 2.50 exhaust with a good muffler (low restriction)-a quality ignition (mine is an MSD #6212 + #2313 three bar boost sensor)-it`s a CD programmable with a boost timing master-good 8-9 mm wires, light weight pulley(s)-Unorthodox has STOCK size light pulleys available now that are worth using as it makes HP & uses stock size belts-late RS coil (+15% more spark)-a good shift kit for your trans (TransGo has a kit for the 4EAT but there`s machining to be done on the valve body + the replacement parts; a good tranny man is needed for sure)-add a trans cooler & external filter FOR SURE & go to synthetic fluids throughout. 4) K&N panel filter or the new FIBK set-up from K&N-with Robert`s kit & the stock air box + water separator removed, it works perfectly. Let me give you a rough idea of the costs and the results: Turbo kit/intercooler-$3500-headers-$500-Ignition-$500-exhaust-$250-Trans work + cooler & filter-$600-coil-$45-pulleys-$225-wires-$50-synthetics-$200. Total-approx $6,000-results: @ sea level, properly tuned, you should be making approx 250 HP. This is a DAILY DRIVER with none of the problems of an overbuilt engine for the street. Down the road you may want to upgrade your internals for reliability & to increase boost levels for more power. I`ll be doing that when my NA turbo starts getting tired, but that could be awhile. Performance-high 13`s or low 14`s @ about 95-100 mph in the 1/4 mile. Check out Robert`s website, or call him (tell him I sent you-there`s a discount involved for ANY member of the BC-BF legacy group.) Any other questions, post me-I`ll be glad to help.---ROD (Prescott Valley, Az.-about 200+ miles north of Tucson.)

Yes Rod, I am very interested.

I want to do work to the motor on my car. Probably wouldn't be for a
bit, but I want to swap in a 5 spd and convert to AWD. I have been
toying/debating over the idea of what route to go, stick with N/A high
compression engine. Or low boost turbo setup. I've ALWAYS had a love
for turbo cars. So I would be greatly appreciate any all info you can
throw my way. Did you redo any of the engine internals. I had sorta
thought/expected to do this when I did do whatever upgrades I was goin
to do. So if I do mod engine internals, can you run more boost? or is
the N/A engine design limited?

Thanks Rod,

PS: Where in AZ are you? I got a buddy that is moving out from
Maryland area out to Tucson. He stopped by last night for dinner and
crashed at my place in memphis, and took off again this morning.

I went from a NA set-up to a light pressure turbo (61/2 lbs.
boost). He put in a Garrett VB-25 dbl. roller bearing turbo (equivalent
to a T3) that spools instantly off idle. With the headers, ignition,
K&N, under drive pulley, etc. it goes like snot! If you have an NA motor
& the coin, I`d recommend this to anyone. Interested? Post me and I`ll
give you Robert`s website for more info.---ROD (AZ.)

Just a note on the PCV valve: if it ain`t broke,
don`t fix it! This comes from someone with extended Subie knowledge as a
tech & is the guy who did the fantastic job on my turbo set-up. The PCV
Subaru uses is`nt like the old ones you`d find in a rubber grommet
stuck in the valve cover. This one is in the pass. side of the throttle
body just above the IAC valve. When i asked if it should be changed, he
indicated they don`t get all oiled up like the old ones did & it was OK.
Do what you`re comfortable with, but it`s probably OK. My 2 cents
worth---ROD (AZ.)

also can somene tell me where PCV valve
is located...
do you just replace this or clean it
out? Is it a good
idea to do so if i have 129k miles and
don't know if
its ever been replaced? (im having rough
idle and bad
gas milage)
