Ben's EJ20swap

Ben,

Thanks for thinking of me as an expert, but my two JDM Legacy EJ20 engones are still sitting on a cart in my garage. If I were a Texan, I would be all hat and no cattle. I have heard that you have to either have the EJ20G ecu or add a fuel controller, because the EJ20 has bigger injectors and the stock EJ22T ecu is sending longer pulses in anticipation of smaller injectors. I also heard that the stock ecu wants to drive our coils, not the EJ20G spark boot coils.

Keep us posted

Bill Robinson

Bill thanks for your reply, I did has a EJ20G ECU for the car, The
machanic was thinking to use the stock ECU and swap the injector form
the EJ22T to the EJ20G , he done few of the 1st Gen WRX swap to RS
and has good result, but since I has the EJ20G ecu then all he has to
do is identify the wire harness from the US Legacy tubro to the ECU
to see how much different between them!
BTW , since I has my EJ20G ECU on board, and I will put the AVC-R
back to the setting, should I have to add any Air/fuel controller or
fuel pressure regulator for the car?
Since the JDM engine eating 100 Octane, and the highest in my local
gas station only has 94 octane, will it has problem on the engine??
Will it knok easier??

Ben

Ben,
You have to add 2 wires to run the direct fire ignition. I have extra coils
if you have a bad one. They are about 120 cdn each from Subaru (4 weeks
delivery) or 40 each from me.
All the other plugs are the same, just what the plug into may be different
(IE Air flow meter is different).
Check your front seals before the motor goes in. Replace your plugs also
just cuz.

I have four good EJ22t injectors that I will trade straight across for
four EJ20t injectors if anyone is interested.

Hay, Mark, Can I use the EJ22T MAF onto the EJ20G engine since the
engine looks coming without the MAF and if it could be use the same
one then which wire should I connect to?
Also let us know which 2 wire I have to do the connection on the coil
pack!!

Bill, thanks for your info, I was thinking about put the Super or RX-
7 fuel pump on the car, will they fits?
