hub temps and other rantings...

hey guys... just had my right rear bearing shit the bed last week... and heres my two questions...this is my second time repacking the rears (just one this time)
1:the inner dust seal (one that is right next to the axle joint) has a little lip... which way should that face, in or out?
2: with a pyrometer i have been checking the temps of my hubs... both front are about 150deg farenhight (sp?) but the rears are (after a highway trip) different. the left rear (not repacked this time) is usually 100-110deg and the right rear which i just repacked is reading about 125-130ish...is this normal? i repacked this one HEAVILY because i diddnt trust that packing grease.
let me know guys... im interested here on how fast our wheel bearings should go nad how long they SHOULD last.
