amperage question

anyone know how many amps my car should be giving when i accelerate? i have a 91' awd legacy sedan (N/A). replaced the battery but sometimes it still hesitates when i start it. this is really irritating. just paid over $200 for a battery and that only seems to have half fixed the problem. (not to mention the one i got is missing the negative side mount cover) when i was at advanced auto parts picking it up, had everything measured and my volts are between 14.4 - 14.9. however, amperage wise, the wire going to the fuse relay box read -7.8 and on the cable coming off the positive battery read a peak amperage of 0.08 or 0.8... i can't remember which right now. any ideas?
