I'm trying to find information on the IHI VF-8 turbo. I've been told
(by one source) that it's the big compressor version of the VF-10.
Keyword searches online turn up no hits, anyone heard of a VF-8?

VF8 VF10 and I think VF12 were all stock turbos for Subaru the largest one
(vf12) was a mitubishi turbo.

Does anyone know the characteristics of the VF 8 compared to the VF 10? ie
lag, revs required to boost etc Some early model Japanese RS Legacies had
them apparently. I have also heard the automatic legacies ie Legacy GT had
the smaller VF 12

The VF8 is smaller for sure. I have one in my car (it is the homolated
turbo) and the boost comes on pretty early, about 2500 rpm but doesnt make
as much power in the upper powerband.
