Yes, by George, I think you see what you're headed for.
Why have you decided not to change to a Subaru factory turbo engine, which could possibly cost less, and be less involved to install, than to turbo your N/A engine ?

Larry I do ask myself that question too! I have done a few mods to my motor, and feel that it will perform pretty well. I also have trouble saving up money
but i think i could save enough to buy the bits to do my motor. The plan is to drop compression back to 8.5:1 then put on a TD05 turbo with a standard (slightly modified if need be) WRX exhaust manifold. Put in some WRX injectors and a WRX fuel pump. And an aftermarket microtech MTX8 ecu. Also will have a fair sized frontmount put in
With this setup apparently i should be able to run up to 16psi safely, but will usually just drive around on 8 pounds, and only take it to 13/14 tops. Hopefully with that setup i should be around about 140KW at the wheels. Then with the equipment i have at that point, if the motor does blow, i can just buy an EJ20-T for $350Aus and bolt it in (they're cheap here!!) We'll see how it goes, i'll keep everyone filled in. George.
