yup... AND we have talked about this much... where ya been bro???

anyways, enough ball bustin.. i upgraded to a TD-04 and you are right, you will need to remove the throttle boddy and hack off the water lines that "warm" the TB... i cut em and joined the hoses together... then the turbo and the IC from the MY93-96WRX fits just fine... just gotta invent brackets....the ones off of the new WRX look like they might fit...oh and ya gotta move that 2nd water tank to the driverside of your TB....

thats all!

turbo upgrade question

Ok......

I gots a question for you......I've been messing around with a high idle problem, and noticed those coolant lines going to the throttle body.......what gives? What purpose do they serve? If it's to help warm the car up.....not sure I like that......once the car's warm.....it's just heating the intake air.....

Anyone have any comments on said coolant lines?

Thanks

Josh

They are basically that, it's an intake heater that somehow assists w/
idling and it provides a couple of other services.

The only application that it should REALLY be removed from is a race only
application where idle is not a serious concern.

Richard cut these off the rally car, but to tell the truth, i really didn't
feel a big difference from doing it - of course he added an intercooler at
the same time, so whatever difference i may have noticed would have been
miniature in comparison.

ok....thanks Jason,

I'll leave my cutter happy hands off them.

While were on the subject.....what about the breather hoses that dump back into the intake. Looking at the diagrams and how it all works. I really don't see why I can't just plug those holes, and put one of those little K&N filter thingy's on them.

Anyone see any reason to keep them in place? I'd probably have to plug off the one coming up and going back into the intake manifold through the PCV.....I think some of it comes up....through the PCV and some goes back into the intake......

I guess that since that air has already been metered it's supposed fine to go back in the intake system....but it all seems a little weird.....

anyway...any comments....pro's con's.....

Josh

I think that they were trying to "fix" a minor problem that I have
never seen or even heard of on a Subie and that is some older VW
engines would frost up the TB and plate and stop when the conditions
were just right. I used to live in the mountains here and one morning
there was a string ov VW's along side the road.
