Has anyone heard of a air pressure sensor failing on a car? I got my car
back from the dealer Friday and while he fix everything else, he talls me
that they pulled up the code for the air pressure sensor and being faulty.
He seems to want to blame the fact the ECU came for overseas and was flown
to Canada. He tells me that if the box was in a non-compressed compartment,
it would blow the air pressure sensor due to the design.

Anyways, the car is still going into limp mode and does not have the power
it should have.

Looks like I will be going to swap out the ECU sooner then later...

It would be very unlikely that a plane trip could have done anything
to the sensor. These sensors are rugged because they have to deal with
pressure, engine vacuum, and backfires in the manifold. The specs on a
Motorola automotive sensor that I have rate it at 100 psi pressure or
vacuum.

Al,

He's not talkin about the MAP sensor......or at least I don't think he is.

He's talking about the atmospheric sensor that's inside the ECU. It tells the ECU altitude or more importantly ambient air pressure so it can adjust a/f ratio.

If you have a car that is tuned to run at 5000 ft in Colorado....then take it down to sea level....it's goin to run lean because the air is thinner at 5000 ft, compared to sea level.

This happened to my uncle's van back in the 80's. Him and the family came to visit us in Seattle from Denver and he had some problems with the van and such.

And for testing the atmospheric pressure sensor.....don't really know if there is one....since it's inside the ECU......as for replacing......replace ECU.....or I guess possibly if your good with soldering and such....you could try and solder a new one to the ECU.
