So this should work pretty much the same as the
hallman right? If its compleatly closed it should hold
boost at 6.5 psi where the factory wastegate/bov will
open, and as soon as you begin to open it up it will
start to "bleed" off air going to the wastegate
effectivly tricking it into thinking that there is
less boost than there really is resulting in higher
manifold pressures. Am I correct in my understanding?
And one more question to anyone using this "Home Depot
MBC" does it have a lock nut on the adjuster so that
it will not reset itself occasionally?

The Hallman,at least the way I am using it,has nothing to do with the factory boost contol solenoid.It is a ball and spring controller that uses boost pressure to overide the spring and send pressure to open the wastegate.The preload on the spring determines at what psi the valve opens. It bypasses the stock boost controller altogether.A bleed valve "tricks" the stock boost controller into thinking there is less boost than there really is.With a ball and spring controller, you will get a fuel cut at 13psi .I dont know which is better,I am sure that they each have there advantages and drawbacks. The price sure is right on the home depot special.I have attached the url to a website that has alot of info on controlling boost,intercoolers,adding fuel etc. It is specific to chrysler turbo engines, but alot of the info applies to any turbo. I bought the homedepot valve, installed it and runned it for 3 weeks...The verdict is: crap!!

It wont give regular pressure....will do the same as an old bleeder....it will be influenced by the pressure outside...I was getting boost from 9,5 to 11.5 for the same setting depending on the temp outisde...and it spools slower than my old bleeder valve...

Hallman is probably the best buy...I'll get one soon to try it...

I like my Hallman alot.Quick spool up and spiking is VERY minimal at 13psi.Sounds like someone is not happy with the bleed valve option.BillC
