Hello, im preparing my Legacy turbo for these setups,
is there anything else to think of that needs to be modified?
im thinking of running boost at 1,2bar around 300hp..

IHI VF24 turbocharger
PiperX direct air kit
Legacy chargecooler with additional water collector and uppgraded
cooler in front
uppgraded fuel pump
4,5" opening from turbo, 3" downpipe, racecat, 2,5" after with
supersprint silencer
I´ll think the Unichip will do here
Heavier clutch is maybe necesery and will the injectors work?
Gearbox and clutch from an My00 Impreza, will they fit right in?

I would leave the clutch standard. Let the clutch take the grunt,
otherwise you will blow your gearbox very quickly.

You should run larger injectors if you are modifying the car this
much.

Your injectors will be ok up to 250hp after that you will need larger.
The Impreza transmission should bolt in I have one from a MY 99 Legacy
and the upgraded synchros are great. I also have the SS Supersprint
exhaust and it works good, free flow but not noisy.

I though that at 13psi the injectors are running at 80% duty. Hence why
we have a fuel cut off at that level. Am I wrong in thinking this?
Very curious because I am planning on upgrading the fuel delivery system
on my car because I will be adding a larger turbo with some more boost.

I disagree slightly..the stock clutch should ahbdle your planned mods with
ease,,,if you find it wearing though, go for a nice gentle upgrade like the
STi, Helix or the best, AP.

Your stock injectors should be fine for your planned mods if you keep the
boost to normal levels (under 15 psi).

Beyond that, I would look into a set of 550 cc units (I assume from previous
Subaru models these would be high impedance, side fed? someone confirm) and
aty the very least, a SAFC for tuning

duty cycle is a real misnomer out there...you really need to cpute injector
pulse width (IPW) which is the relation ship of the lenght of time your
injectors are open (aka spraying fuel), vs the total amount of time available
for your model injectors (depends on engine size and injector size). Ic an
post the formula tomorrow if you want. As a rule of thumb though, injectors
get the most efficient at around 90% duty cycle.

Assuming these are 360 cc units, i would say you are fine to about 275 hp,
beyond that,l a set of 550's would be great for up to nearly 400 hp, and I
would team it with an upgraded fuel pump too

correct me if im wroing but i heard MY00 impreza clutch and gearbox
is a little bit stronger than the legacy, but i dont think that
clutch can handle that power either, maybe AP organic clutch and
impreza gearset will do?

exhaust upgrades, turbo porting, crank pulley (unorthodox or Go Fast Bits) are good places to start

Yes, Subaru's run just enough fuel for the standard configuration.

If it is a 205Kw WRX, these are a little stronger, the key is they
mostly use twin baulk rings which aid smooth gear changes.

The only difference in the turbo and n/a gears is that one set is
tempered and one is hardened other than that they will interchange.
I think that the verIII transmission is a bit stronger at least it
shifts better. We have found that 350hp is probably the most that
either will take and last in most cases and if it lasts the rear diff
is next.

Exactly right, the box shifts smoother as they use twin baulk rings,
which locks the gear up faster.

They must be aware of the previous problems, they also cut some small
grooves in the synchros to allow the oil to escape faster. I wonder if
this would work in the older transmissions or if the grooves could be
cut in the older synchros. One other thing that helps is a product
from BG called Synchroshift but it is expensive.
