I respectfully disagree with the suggestion to keep a stock clutch with extensive power modifications. I have much more modest modifications than were proposed and I have always had way more power than clutch until I went to a new WRX Group N Rally clutch. No one with a lick of sense dumps the clutch at high revs in a powerful AWD car on dry tarmac (pavement) or concrete. I don't need my clutch to make up for a drivrer with no common sense. I want a smoothly engaging clutch, but one that is capable of handling the power. I like a beefy clutch, but always full disk, not pucks for street driving.

By "dumping" the clutch do you mean popping the clucth or do you mean
quick staring on tarmac in general is harmful for the cluth?

There are some very tried and true wayas to get a good launch on
pavement...this is how I have always done it on an AWD turbo car (which I
have onwed 4, an '88 All Trac Celica, a '99 2.5 RS with a turbo 2.5 motor
(ran mid 12's), and then an STi V4 swap (runs high 11's), a '00 Audi S4, and
now the Legacy Turbo)....rev up to about 4500, blipping the throttle to 5k,
as the needle swings back "up" during a throttle blip towards about 4700,
quickly let out on teh clutch to the friction point, hold it (thus inducing
some slippage and front wheel spin), and give it some more gas..once fully
enggaged, car will be lurching forward and revs will build quickly, and at
this point you should be off the gas and totally on throttle.

Granted, this is not an everyday driving technique, as you will surely place
premature wear on the drivetrainc omponents over time, but when you do need
to do a quick start, this works well, and is not hamrful to the gearbox when
done correctly

He means revvin the engine to 3 grand or so, and poppin the clutch........your car cringes everytime you do this....

Yes, I agree with what you said I upgraded my clutch to a twin turbo
system which is quite different and also the gearbox, both good for
around 300Hp from the factory. With respect I would prefer to smoke
my clutch a little than blow my gearbox again. clutch $1000.00
gearbox $3000
