For several years I have been experiancing bad ping when ambiant temp
goes above 75F. Whenever I need AC it's at it's worst. I have heard
of a tech bullitn on this subject. Can anyone help or has had same
problem?

check out my site www.surrealmirage.com/subaru Under the Notes&Tips section and engine related I have info on how to pull the ECU codes, and do some other diag work.

See if you have any codes in there. I'd also suggest resetting the ECU, see if it goes away. If you're still having problems, get a new knock sensor, they're like 30 bucks. They have updated the sensor. The old sensor has a white connector, while the new one is gray.

What octane gas you running?

Josh: Thanks for the reply. I have never had any codes stating knock
sensor. But for 30 bucks it's worth a try. I have tried varios
different gas with out luck. Currently it seams 89 octane does the
best. @93 the ping is in greater magnitude and the freq. is the same
@ 89. 87 less but still there. I'll let you know about the knock
sensor. Now she has just slipped a tooth or two on the timing belt.
I'm dumb I let the belt go to 100,mi. This is my main focus right
now.
Thanks I'll give you idea a try since you say they have upgraded the
sensor.
