Hi fellow bc-bf owners

Noticed a burning smell coming from my EJ20T engine during 2 hr drive in
the weekend :-( Upon inspection turned out that
the a/c compressor had seized up and the belt was shredding off in tiny
pieces. anyway ive cut the belt off but now
I guess will need to replace the a/c compressor...

If anyone has perhaps done this procedure I would be grateful for any DIY
tips, otherwise guess I am looking at a large mechanic bill.

thanks
Paul

You will have to take it to a shop to de-pressurize the coolant and then re do it but the rest is easy. simple unbolting (well except the bottom bolt on the 2.0) and re-bolting. If your close, go to Waiku Spares and talk to Gary. He is very helpfull. He would probably photo-copy the pages from manual for you if you dont have a copy.

Good luck.

A little trick that works better than cutting the belt" Unplug the AC
electric clutch " . Lets the pulley spin freely. $.02 :-)

hey thanks for your 2c Dan - I'll know for next time if/when it happens
again!
my belt resembled a piece of chewed licorice by the time I stopped the
car...
