Has anyone experimented with ice boxs on water to air intercoolers. From what I have heard They don't work that well because the ice melts to quick.

What if we were to use a small camping freezer to cool the water as well as the original radiator. I am dead keen on droping my inlet temps to ambient or close. If I was to use a small camp freezer I could use the cold air that the freezer was producing as the ice in the ice box and run as many copper pipes in the frezzer as possible to cool the water out of the intercooler.

What do you guys think of this.

I know where you're coming from and have had similar ideas. It's been
high 30's and low 40's (>100F) here in SA for quite a few days now which
is not really conducive to turbos, esp with the A/C on flat out. My
guess is that these are the sort of conditions you want to use the camp
freezer in but somehow I don't think you'll get much gain, esp for the
effort required to plumb it all in.

Have you considered an extra radiator? I was pulling apart the broken
a/c in my family room last night and it has a really nice looking heat
exchanger in it with nice copper piping in aluminium fins. Reckon you
could almost put it in series with the existing I/C radiator for extra
cooling. Also, has anyone tried a water spray setup (as per WRX) but
having it spray onto the I/C radiator instead?

Was thinking about water spray. As for the radiator I was going to upgrade it to 700mm x 270mm x 50mm aluminium or close as posible. I was also thinking about upgrading the water pipes from 16mm ID to 25mm ID. The standard pump is rated at 15 litres a min. It is controlled by the ECU. When there is 80% throtle it kicks into its faster mode.

Here's another question will copper corrode aluminium or visa versa.
