what parts and how much would a good price for them would be needed to convert my 92 legacy LS FWD auto into an AWD auto car?

would it be more cost effective to just swap it for a 93 legacy (i think all of those are AWDs)

is anything else optional (anything you dont need for the conversion but would make it easier)?

AWD was an option on pretty much all the 90-94 legacies. So it's not really year dependant.

all depends like you said......if you include labor, parts, or your time, etc....it'll normally be more expensive to convert....

I bought a running AWD car for 750$ that I drive every day to work and even took to Tahoe.

My freind traded a Pentium 2 laptop for an AWD wagon

Another freind got a AWD Wagon that has a smelly interior for 250$


All three of these are 100% complete running vehicles. You dont even want to know how cheap cars not running cost.

Just buy a damn car, you will always have some small part that is lost.

ciper: depends on what part of the country you're from. Not much is cheap in the North Shore of Massachusetts (unless you want an old Cavalier not running on all cylinders with a slipping transmission and body rot). Everything seems dirt cheap in Cali from all the ads and the cars I've seen used as daily drivers out there.

Its damn lucky this place is so charming.

Places like Charlotte, NC and spots in California are great for getting used cars because everyone wants a new one (why would anyone want a used one).

Don't forget about places like Ohio where any car that is running is worth at least $500 or so. Anything running with 4wd is worth around $1000. Don't try to deduct much from the prices unless it has extreme rust or something funny mechanical (transmission, etc.) These are vehicles that people would pay to have taken away in other places.

Its an awful pain to arrange and take on faith. I suppose you could fly out and drive back, but that may be risky. Or like me you could drive to Detroit and find a filthy liar and have to drive back enpty handed. Then with the additional price its not as good a deal. It would be hard for me to explain the logic even to myself of paying twice the value of a car to ship it. Otherwise I'd have a 2-door '84 GL.

What does it matter the price of the car? Your logic makes no sense.
The only part that matters would be the final price. You'd get a complete vehicle for 1500 in this example.

If you really feel that way then this should throw you for a loop. I bought my beater for around 700. I paid about 250 for WRX wheels. I just recently bought some tires for 450.

Meaning I spent just as much for the car as I did for its wheels/tires, I have no problem with it.

Possibly for 1500. You could also get some assmonkey who lies about the whole thing and all you end up with when the thing comes off the carrier is a heap and a smug looking truck driver. For a Legacy around here you are probably better buying fwd and converting. As for multi-decade cars (something relatively rare that might be worth the trouble), I'm still not sure I'd trust someone's word on it and I know I couldn't tow a car that far with the Legacy. If I do ever get a place with car storage I may get an old hearse for that purpose though. It is my only hope for a good '84, but I'd line up a couple to look at before I left just in case.

Driving 1000 miles to get pissed off was bad enough - 3500 would be way too much. Anyway, I can get plenty pissed at home.

Fine, you want to buy an awd legacy wagon from me in okay condition? A friend has one with a leaking headgasket he plans to get rid of. You forget that with this board you have people all over the country who would help.
