adding keyless entry

Hi all,

Is there anyway to install a keyless entry into my 92 Legacy wagon? I always see remotes for sale on eBay but they are all for 95 & newer Legacys. Also, would any of those newer Subaru CD/cassette stereos fit in mine? I was curious about the size & the wire harness. Thanks.

Anything is possible, for keyless you can get an alarm and have it installed or do it yourself. Or you can get the subaru stock one and install it. For the radio yes you can do it, and yes itll fit. The wireing harness on the back might be a problem. If your stock one doesnt fit grab the plug from the same MY as the radio and an aftermarket wiring harness and splice them together.

You will need to install an actuator for your driver door to have true keyless entry.

I bought my mom a legacy. The first thing I did was to rip out the afermarket keyless entry/alarm. Too much trouble.

I have a Sigma alarm and immobiliser on mine - I've never used a key to open the doors as all the locks are broken :?

Don't forget to change your remote battery annually, although in an emergency if the battery is low you can hold the transmitter against the side of the car and it should work. Don't ask me why (maybe some of you more scientific guys can explain) but you can nearly double the range of your remote by holding it against the side of your head just to the side of your eyebrow  I've tried it and it works... Guess your skull must make a decent aerial
