A/C - Fan issue....

When I turn the vent fan between say heat to vent, or from defrost to vent, I hear a groaning sound from behind the dash. It only occurs while the system is changing the air flow between the floor/dash/defrost vents. I imaging there is some electronic servo or something that controls which vents get the air and it is probably sticking or going bad. Can anyone give my idea on what I should be looking for to address this?

At lunch I turned the vent on and there was no noise and the vent air was blowing out the defrost vents, then I hit a slight bump and the groaning started as the air flow slowly changed from the defrost vents to the dash vents (where it should have been!) Help before summer gets here! :D

Any determination of what actually fixes this? Connection issue or cleaning, lubing the actuator motor?

TIA!

It's a connection issue of the pins on the board. When the car sat over christmas while I was gone, when I first got in it, I experienced the same prob I had before I did my little fix. However pushing another button fixed it.

You're problem is different. It's with the actual servo, not the controls.

If you stick your head in the drivers footwell area you will see the side of the hvac box and a white plastic arm. I'm not sure which one of those controls what flapper, but if you have someone press the button while you're down there, you should see the lever move and where the servo is.

Picked up a servo motor from the u-pull, installed it and it works great! Thanks again, it was in the drivers footwell, up & to the right! :D
