Motorvac'd again, etc...

About 3 years ago i had one of these done, and noticed a nice difference, which i can not attribute to a placebo effect.

It's been over three years, i have to get an emissions test, and the car seemed to be getting "congested", so i had it done again.

While i've done a LOT of stuff since i had it done the first time, i still find that the car seems smoother now, even after 100 or so miles and a few days. The slight bogging on launch, stumbling a bit in 2nd and wheezing when i'm really getting into it on freeway onramps has receeded.

I also dropped my boost limit to .75BAR, because at .85 the overboost i get would have me slamming hard into the fuel cut at .95 or so.

Finally, i got the car to a shop i frequent for the aforementioned emissions test, but was disappointed to find that he'd run out of certificates. Since i know him well, we put it on the machine in a test mode just to see what my chances are. Keep in mind that i'm still running NO catalytic converters on the car since i had the downpipe made. The results? I'm coming up fast on 140k miles and the car is extremely clean and passes all tests with a decent margin.

Motorvac is a system where they shunt a machine into your fuel system, usually right at the fuel filter on Subarus, and run fuel and a solvent/detergent through the engine for 30 minutes or so while the car runs.

Think of an IV feed of the stuff you normally put into your tank, more or less, and that pretty much explains it. It cleans everything, injectors, rails, valves on both sides, pistons and whatnot.

It's kind of expensive, the local shop i know that does it charges $119, but pretty much everyone who has it done doesn't mind paying the money for the results.

This goes over the process a bit more: http://www.theautochannel.com/mania/rep ... orvac.html
