STi Shifter trim?

Does anyone have any idea if the STi shifter trim and boot will bolt onto a Turbo?

I have a feeling it will, or can be made to easily fit, but I wanted to know if anyone had done the swap?

I have a feeling the parts are going to cost an arm and a leg from Subaru, so I want to be fairly certain before I drop the coin on the parts.

Awesome dude, I'd appreciate it.

I am going to be STOKED if it fits. Anything to get rid of this ugly ass rubber boot.

I would be surprised if it fit easily, just from my experience with BC/BF shifter trim and looking at this thread on ScoobyMods:

I think you should just get a generic leather boot and adapt it yourself.

I was mainly just trying to get the trim peice. The boot is easy, Momo makes a bood that looks pretty decent and can easily be used.

It's just kind of hard to find a boot that doesn't have Velcro or yellow somewhere on it. I am very big on the factory look.

Ideally, I want my shifter to end up looking similar to that in a Volkswagen Passat W8 6MT. Shifter sunk in a bit with the console, but high enough so you arent reaching DOWN into the console to shift. It's the perfect height and the perfect throw. Appropriate for the fastest AWD sedan of that size that I have ever driven.

On a side note:

I suggest a test drive of a VW Passat W8 with the 6MT some time. It's truely an exhilirating car. Possibly the smoothest revving 8 cylinder engine I've ever driven. The thing HAULS for a car of it's size. It's truely a joy to drive.

Here are the closest dimensions I could get for you:

Width at top outside: 5 3/4 inches
Width at top inside: 4 1/2 inches
Width at bottom outside: 4 3/4 inches
Width at bottom inside: 3 1/2 inches
Length (top to bottom) at outside: 6 inches
Length (top to bottom) at inside: 4 1/2 inches

With the "top" being closest to the dash, and the bottom being closest to the e-brake.

Bear in mind the "top" and "bottom" are not of equal widths as the ring is tapered. If you've seen pictures, you know what I'm talking about. :)

Awesome! Thank's Art!

I'll measure the stock stuff when I get home, unless someone beats me to it. I think the only real issue COULD be the inside dimensions in terms of stock mounting.

If it clears everything, I'll stop by the Subaru dealership and do the install.

I'll also do a write up with photos if anyone is interested in it.

No problemo!

Yeah. . . if you can, just go for the replica ring. It's still metal, just not the REAL thing. . . . costs a bit less, too. ;)

Do you have an idea on the price of the "real ring"?

I don't mind a replica ring. I just think the "STi" thing is cool.

I doubt I'll get the "real" STi shift boot. I'll probably just get the Momo one and an Raceair-leather knob. Run the whole setup.

Anyone have any resources on where I can get the Raceair-leather knob and leather boot?

I'd like to keep the price under 150 if I could. I'll probably do this at the same time as a short shifter.

I have TWO boots to choose from. One is brand new and the other is just about new. . .

One is the Performance boot, and the other is the Elegance boot (and I'll throw in the aluminum trim ring for that one, too ;) )

Your choice, $25 + shipping. :)

Oh yeah, they're both black.

dagnabbit.

I'll probably snag one of those replica ones you showed me. Wait, I have almost no money, lol. I'll stick to the boot and try to find an all-leather Momo Raceair for cheap :)
