how would my car run if it had a bad head gasket . my car half of the time when it is running is burning oil and bogging down when the gas is pressed. i have to pull over and try to bring the rpms high enough to burn the oil out. keep in mind that i was venting my bypass for a straight week before i plugged it back in and it hasnt been running any better. the people at the subaru dealer told me to get all the gaskets replaced and quoted me 1300.

for that price I'd try to do it myself. I drove with bad HGs for 40,000 miles or more before the car started overheating. The only sign of a problem until then had been oil in the coolant.

Dont jump the gun. Clean your engine first. Get it so that no oil is on it top or bottom. Then drive around and look for leaks.

Blown headgaskets are more often coolant problems not oil problems.

i dont think its my head gasket anymore, the smoke coming out of my tail is black not blue so i think it is running rich on gas, that means it still could be something as simple as an o2 or intake gasket.
