Water temp sender for ecu.

Well, my gauges came in last night. Fitment in the gauge pod and on the a-pillar are exceptional, especially since I heated the pod with a heat gun.
The oil pressure sender is a straightforward install, considering I already got the Subaru adapter piece, however, the water temp gauge comes with a temperature sender.
Would I be able to hook the gauge directly to the input to the ecu for water temp or will I have to use the included temp probe? If I have to use the probe, where should I install it?

You will have to use the probe that came with the gauge.
One place to tap a coolant line might be the coolant lines going to the throttle body and IAC valve. There's a nipple on the back of the water manifold that connects with a hose to the IAC valve; water is fed to the IAC valve and then to the throttle body this way. The hose is 7.5mm I think.
The turbo and intake plumbing might make it too hard to do that on the feed side so you may have to settle for measuring the temperature of the water after it passes through the IAC valve and throttle body.
Another option might be to tap the 11.5mm hose going between the filler tank and the turbo. I guess that'll measure the temperature of water that's already gone through the turbo,though... but it's easy to access.

I ended up going to Home Depot to get a brass t-fitting to screw the thermocouple into. Works fine. I'm gonna try and hook it up inline with the throttle body coolant line (the one most people bypass). Probably do that once the weather warms up a bit. I hate working on my engine when it's below 60 out.

Cool. Don't forget the teflon tape. :)
I think the coolant line on the driver side (leaving the throttle body) is the return line, and the one going to the IAC valve on the passenger side is the feed line. Just so you know.

So I'd probably have to tap into the IAC line, just so I can get an engine h2o temp, correct?
Hopefully, the gauges will be installed (as well as my new wheel) by the time you head down for that mini-meet next week.
Plus, I'll have to give you a ride, since the last time my car was running all screwy (just to give you an idea of the fruits of your labor wrt my MAP sensor issues). LOL!

I think you'd probably be okay tapping it on the driver side as long as you're aware that the coolant in the engine is probably slightly warmer.
It's a very tight fit on the IAC side, particularly with the intake tubing and turbo.
Yeah, I definitely want to take a ride in your car.
