I have been the quiet observer on this site and have made some effort to research the topics on similar problems to what i am experiencing.

These problems are based on the broad problem of what seems to have been labelled "torque-binding"

I have found some information but still have a few questions:

1) can i simply disconnect the drive going to the rear wheels, I know there is a fuse somewhere which will do this? Where? I want to pinpoint the problem. Will this cause any damage if i drive with the fuse in / only in front wheel drive instead of AWD?

2) There is definately a shudder and hesitation when i turn corners slowly, its definately at the back. Will it be the rear or the middle diff that is causing the problems? I know its not the CV's as these have recently been inspected.

3) I am going to empty and change the oil in both diffs and the transmission this weekend in search of a temporary fix, is there anything else i can do?

My car is a 92 GX Liberty(Legacy) Wagon it is AT and has done 199,000Kms. I want to keep it for as long as possible, but am saving for an overseas trip and cant spare the $$$$$ for major repairs. This problem is the last thing i need.

Change the oil in the trans first. That should help, especially if it hasn't been done in a while.

The fuse should be located along the firewall behind one of the strut towers.

If you insert a fuse in there it will disable the AWD, as well as your problems......you can probably drive like this for a little bit, but you might cause premature failure to the duty c solenoid.

Like I said, try the fluid swap first. If it's real dirty, you may want to drive for a little while, let everything mix, and change again.
