Check Engine Light?

My CEL came on today a few times. Just a flash on, didn't stay on.

It happened immediately after starting the car and while I am letting the clutch out in 1st, no other time, even if I stop and start out in 1st again. Randomly too. It did it earlier today, and then it did it again a little later in the day, and again shortly after that.

Why would the CEL come on when I am doing that? Looks like I'll have to search on how to read the codes myself... unless someone wants to post which connectors to use in here and save me some trouble...

Single wire black connector up underneath the steering wheel area. Turn the ignition ON, but don't start the car. Read the flashes. Use Josh's site to decode them.

I have that happening now. The code is for the O2 sensor, and I'm fairly sure its because of the extension I had to put on the wiring for my new exhaust. The CEL will come on and then go out again randomly.

That sounds like what mine is doing. If it's the O2 sensor, well, i'm gonna be pissed, lol. How much do O2 sensors go for?

Pull the codes before worrying.

If it is the oxygen sensor, you can run without the sensor for the short-term or medium-term. Matt is.

They're generally anywhere from $60-115 for 3-wire setups. I'd upgrade to a 4-wire like I am though if it needs replaced.

I'd do a D-check too Phil. Go to Josh's site and it explains it very well. If you can get by 'till next week I'll show you how to do it though. Then you can drive around with the panel under the steering wheel removed too. ;)

What's the advantage to a 4 wire over a 3 wire?

Since I don't feel like starting another thread, what does fuel cut feel like? Like hitting the rev limiter? If so, then I hit fuel cut twice on my way home from the mall today. Once in 3rd, and once in 2nd. I couldn't get it to replicate itself though. Seemed to only do it at 1/2 throttle or more (I haven't hit WOT for the past few days).

Also, what's Josh's site?

Feels a lot like hitting a wall, the rev limit is sort of soft, fuel cut however is not.

Fuel cut is complete engine shutdown. It's like hitting a brick wall. You'll be pulling hard, then it shuts down, throwing you forward in your seat, then it pulls again for a few seconds then another brick wall. It's pretty violent feeling.

Hehehe, Josh's site is Legacy777's website. clickon his www. icon and look under engine notes or something like that. Or just hols off a couple days and I'll show you.

Ok, then it was Fuel Cut.

The only time I've hit the rev limiter in any car was in my Ranger, I hit the limiter in 5th gear. That cuts fuel, and it was like engine braking in 5th. At just over 100mph, it was pretty violent. I didn't hit the rev limiter again :(

It was violent. Matt, it felt like when your pressure plate snaps, only harder.

You've never hit the rev limiter in your legacy? Surprising. Drive harder

I drive plenty hard, I just drive well. I've also only had it for a week that I've been driving it :)

I need some grippier pedals though. My feet keep slipping in the turns.

did you ever find out which code it was?

Not yet. I'll do it tomorrow.
