Rim size suggestion

Hi everyone-
I have a 93 Legacy L (FWD) with the stock 14" rims. I want to upgrade. From experience, would 17" rims fit without any additional mods? And on the issue of ride, would there be a noticable ride difference between 17" tires to 16" tires?
Thanks

I had 17s on my 92 when it was fwd. They fit fine w/o additional modifcation.

The ride won't be much different between 16 and 17. I say go w/ a good looking set of 17s, however people here will tell you that 17s are too heavy and bad for your car etc.. stock WRX wheels will be recommended, but they are fugly :)

7 or 7.5" width is recommended, offest should be at least 48mm

17's are heavy unless they are RG's or TE37s :)

I've got a nice set of 16x7+47 Advan RG's and they weigh a good 2kg's lighter than the factory 15's with tires.

17's are generally thought to be the best size for Autocross. Small enough sidewall without being TO short, and without being TO heavy.

The only downside is going to be the 45 series sidewall. That's not going to be the most comfortable sidewall you can have, it'll be a pretty harsh ride.

17's are too big IMO for a car that had 14" come stock.

Turbo legacy is difference since it came with 15" stock. But that's just my opinion.

Sorry to Hijack, but does anybody know the weight of Legacy GT rims and stock Legacy turbo rims? Just curious.

Thanks,
Mark

So what I'm hearing is that 17" might not be a good idea. And that 16" would be better?

Thanks

It is whatever you make of it, function or form?

Function first myself.

One last question then. I'm looking at this rim size 16X7 5-100 45S. Tire size 205/50R-16 91V . Will this combination work for 93 Legacy L Sedan?
Thanks.

perfect!

Just make sure that the offset is 50-58mm. Otherwise it's kind of hard on your wheel bearings and might look funny.

Nothing wrong with my 47 offset. Sits perfectly flush with the body.

Cool. Thanks guys. I'll go ahead and run with what I have. Just out of curiosity, have you guys (and gals) had an problems with wheel bearings after 160,000 miles?
Thanks for your help everyone.

Original wheel bearings here with slightly incorrect offset since 110k.
