Exedy Clause...

My 14.7lb Exedy Flywheel came in today. Clutch should be here tomorrow
I'm stoked! The flywheel is light and cool
I ordered my Grp. N Engine mounts and the Tranny mount today also. I tried like 4 places, and they were back ordered for 2 weeks every where I went.
I finally called Anthony at
www.MauroMotorsports.com and he had ONE Grp. N tranny mount left and the engine mounts. Got all of it shipped for $195, and it'll be here on Tuesday hopefully.
I called
www.Boxer4Racing.com (as per Matt's recomendation) and Dale there was really helpful and offered me Cusco mounts (stiffer than Grp. N mounts) for $260 shipped. If Mauro was out of Grp. N mounts, then I would have probably done it.
I also called my buddy Myles at
www.RaceCompEngineering.com (Brat4by4 got his strut tops from him. He's a good guy to work with) but he was back-ordered for 2 weeks.
Max at
www.Gruppe-S.com was also backordered for 2 weeks.
www.MPJmotorsports.com (or something) had the mounts for $170, but they didn't answer their friggin phone. Sucks for them.
I highly recomend all of the companies I've been in contact with for this little project.
www.NinosAutoAccessories.com
www.RaceCompEngineering.com
www.Gruppe-S.com
www.Boxer4Racing.com
All 4 were very helpful and in reality just wanted me to get my parts ASAP since I am on a tight schedule. Dale at Boxer4 even called me back a bit later in the day to tell me about the Cusco mounts. Pretty good service I'd say.
Woo, I can't wait to get this clutch installed! It's cost me enough money, it damn well better be worth it

Really? Tell them to answer their goddamn phones. They had the best price aside from what Myles was going to try and get me, but they didn't answer their phone the 4 times I called. I even left a message.

They have GRP N engine and tranny mounts...

What's the difference between GRP N mounts vs STI mounts? I thought they were the same, I also thought the STI mounts were solid, so I'm not sure what could be stiffer than them.

Billet steel.

I think it's just wording. I've seen them used interchangeably. I could be wrong though. The cusco mounts are mostly metal. Lemme try and dig up a pic.

It is STi Group N. There is also STi Spec-C, and probably a hundred other designations for race & street applications.
Group N just refers to the "build" of the part. Group N is a competitive grade and Spec-C is a everyday driver type of deal. A lot of the stuff you'll find on an actual STi car is Spec-C.

Whoa those metal engine mounts must be absulutely brutal for driving. I'd be weary of putting those in a car if your want the chassis to last. But for a race car I guess you only need a season or 2 out of it.

LegacyT- The Cusco mounts do have urethane in there, they're not solid steel

BAC,
Is your flywheel actually 14.9 lbs, or like 12 lbs. I have seen conflicting vendors. Some are selling the exedy LW flywheel as 14 lbs, and some are selling it as 12 lbs. Are there two different ones? Or is someone not knowing what they're selling?

Some vendors are screwed up. I ran into this when I bought mine. If it is an exedy lightweight then it is 14 lbs and change (can't remember the exact number). It's beautiful, so if Exedy is what you buy don't worry, you have the best flywheel possible.

14.x pounds for the Exedy flywheel. I don't think I'd want the car to rev any faster than it does with the Exedy flywheel.

So it is 14 lbs then....not the 12 lbs like some retarded vendors are saying?
I wouldn't mind trying out Ekland's flywheel, but I just don't want to do it with no feedback from anyone that's used it. All the comments from people that have used the Exedy LW flywheel are glowing.
I may email exedy to verify the weight.

I have absolutely nothing but good things to say about the Exedy flywheel. DEFINATELY get that one! TRANSFORMS the way the car feels. Ask anyone who has one.

Did you have to pull the tranny to put it in?

How much did you pay for your flywheel?

Ryan - I had my mechanic do it since I had to be at the beach.
He dropped the tranny to do it. Said it was WAY easier to do it that way. Much easier than re-running all of the under-hood hoses. for the mounts he just hoisted the engine a wee bit, and slipped them in.
I paid $719 shipped for my Stage 1 clutch and Flywheel.
Next time around, I'm getting an Exedy Twin-Plate.

wow, 719 shipped? I was looking at boxer4racing and they were charging about 450 for each individually. Were did you buy them from?

Dale's a great guy, but his prices tend to be a little pricier then others.

Dale is a great guy. He offered me the Cusco mounts in place of the STi mounts for only a few bucks more. In hindsight, I should have gotten them. If the swap were easier, I'd sell my Grp N mounts and get the Cusco ones.
I got mine from
www.ninosautoaccessories.com
That was really great service as well. He called me from his cellphone to confirm that my clutch and flywheel had gotten there on the day he said they'd be there (they were there on time, no problems).
I took advantage of his package deal that he had going on NASIOC.

wow.....nino's has the exedy lw flywheel for 349. That's almost 100 bucks cheaper then most places I've seen.
Any other leads on a cheaper price?

Nino had the lowest prices I could find. For most other stuff, I go to Myles. He hooks a brotha up, lol.
He got William (Brat4by4) his top mounts at a good price.
If you need stuff, go to him. He's great. Tell him Dr. Phil sent you too. He's done nothing but look out for me since I have known him, he's a really good guy.
