I pulled a code 12 from the TCU on my '90 Legacy, and that's a fault with Duty Solenoid B. Anyone know where this solenoid lives on the tranny, and how hard it is to replace?

its on the valve body. I don't recall if it's on the part facing the pan, or on the top. If it's on the bottom. You could just drop the pan and replace. if it's on the top, you'll have to drop the whole valve body.

Thanks Josh. Sounds like something I'll let the local shop take care of. Fortunately this shop not only specializes in Subarus, but the owner loves the cars and has some very competent techs! And here I was worried that there wouldn't be any good Subie shops in AZ!

It handles the routing of fluid to handle the shifting. I don't recall what it does off the top of my head......I'd have to look it up.
