Hi all I been posting this question on every Subaru forum on the net and everyone keeps sending me to another forum. I got a guy who wants me to install a new cd head unit in a 1992 subaru legacy LS wagon. and ive never done it on a subaru before does it need a "key" to remove the stock head unit?, and what kind of wiring harness if any does it need?. and i just noticed alot of you got the huge tape decks do i need a special cover plate or something to cover the extra space since the new head units are shorter. any help at all would be apperciated. i normally install sound systems in mini truckz and never seen what a 1992 subaru legacy LS head unit looks like so just trying to do some research on them so i am prepared when install day comes around.

No you don't need a key. Get a wiring harness adapter from Bestbuy or Circuit City ( $16.99) and a .5 din pocket ($12.99) from the same places. It is very easy to do, shouldn't take more then about a half an hour.

what is a .5 din pocket ive heard of DIN but never worked with them or know exactly what it is. also if you want to make like $50 installing a head unit this guy lives in Onley, MD. im located in herndon, NoVa and too far for me to drive out there for $50. but he said he would drive out here. you can see his post on http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/aos/32511158.html I figure if your bored you can hook up with a fellow subaru guy.

also thxs for the help man much apperciated.
