engine's backfiring

what would cause my engine to back fire when i shift. some black smoke also comes out just after starting.

ecu is compensating for your un-naturally high boost by throwing lots of gas at it to keep it rich. when you shift lots of unburnt fuel hits your turbo and BAM.

the black is carbon. it needs to be cleaned out of your engine. you could do water ingestion or sea foam.

if i reset the ecu would it cure the prob.?
