Car wants to unlock self- help

OK, on my 93, when you push on the locking mechanism for the driver's door, from the inside, it locks all the doors. NOW, if I do this, and a passenger in the front opposite side shuts their door with medium force, that door will unlock itself ( I am guessing from the force of the shut)
Does anyone else have this issue?
Any ideas to fix, or do I just get that aftermarket alarm I have been looking at?
Or should I just go dukes of hazard and weld all of em shut and use the windows?
Or do I can just quit taking people anywhere and use the car for a speed platform ( hmm, now I just have to win the lottery)

Both front doors should automatically unlock themselves when you shut them unless you're holding the door handle up while you shut the door. This is supposed to be a feature to keep you from accidentally locking your keys in the car, I think.
Is this the behavior you're talking about?

That is normal.... just hold the door handle up while you close the door and it should stay locked....

Mine only has an idiot lock feature on the pass side - it's never done it on the driver's side. I'm thankful for that since I hate it and my other Subarus had it on both doors.

More then likely your driver's side is broken. My driver's side did work at some point, then we had an issue with someone putting the window down when I was changing lock cylinders and it bent a rod and stuff. Now I don't really have to hold down the handle....even though I do anyway.

Now if I could only break the other side the same way then.

ok, let me try this again, but I will be more explicit.
I turn off the car, get out, and reach in and press on the door lock mechanism inside the car in front of the door handle. If I shut JUST the driver's door, it stays locked. Now, when I press this, ALL OF THE DOORS LOCK. BUT, when a front passenger SHUTS their door, the lock pops out- making that door now unlocked. ( WHile the other three are still locked) And this is just with normal shut force.
This means currently, I have to wait till all of the doors are shut ( except the driver's) before I press the lock button.
YOu can test what I mean. FInd a passenger. both of you open the front doors. Now, press the driver's side inside door lock. Then both of you shut your doors with normal force. My driver's stays locked, my passenger side pops to unlocked.
It's very frustrating.

That is very normal... The only thing that is not normal about this situation is that your driver's side door should be doing the same as your passenger side door...
Hold the outside door handle up as you close the door and it should stay locked.

Sounds like mine with the idiot lock on the pass side only.
