The wire that goes under the seat

AFter my interior change, I noticed that my old seat's electrical connector under neath was different than my new one. So I spliced the end onto it. I'm guessing it is just a simple circuit so it dosn't matter which way I wire it but I can't seem to notice what it does from when it is plugged into when it isn't. WHat does it do?? Im guessing it has to do with the seats, but my belts still ding when it is unplugged. I dont' remember my lapbelt dinging when I take it off, should it? If so then maybe I have it wired wrong and it does matter.

That should be the wire to the lap belt connector. If that is hooked up and working correctly, it should beep at you for a few seconds after the ignition switch is turned to ON without the lap belt connected. If the lap belt is connected, then it shouldnt beep at all.
The only time the lap belt should beep at you is if its not hooked up for like 5 seconds or something after you turn the ignition ON. If you take it off after that, it shouldnt beep.
To see if it is hooked up right, just put on the lap belt and turn the key to ON. If it still beeps at you, then its probably not hooked up.
Unless you need a beep that reminds you to buckle up for 5 seconds every time you start your car, as far as i know, it should be fine disconnected.

Mine definitely does.....
It should beep for a few seconds if you turn the ignition switch to the ON position with the lap belt unbuckled.
If the lap belt is buckled when the ignition is turned ON, then it will not beep at all.
It also should not beep if the lap belt is unbuckled after the initial beep period. Only the shoulder belt does that.....
Go try it.... turn the key to ON with the lap belt unbuckled and listen... then turn it off, connect the belt, turn it back on, and listen again..... If it is working right it should only beep for a few seconds when the belt is unbuckled.

Mine beeps aswell, also you can get rid of the beep with a plug under the dash, but then the seat belt light flashes at you. I posted about this before.
