Question about used WRX clutch

As I may have mentioned. I picked up a used WRX clutch with supposedly 3000 miles on it.

The thickness of it is right in spec with what a new clutch should be, however there is some misc rust around the pressure plate. The mating surface on the pressure plate looks to have material deposits, but the surface is still grooved.

The clutch itself, on one side the metal looks rainbowish....almost like it's seen some extreme heat cycling.

here's some pics

lemme know if you think it looks ok. I understand it's used, I just want to put something in that is going to fail prematurely.

Rust is fine. My Turbo flywheel had rust all over it when I got it back, so did my pressure plate.

That clutch worries me though. Looks like it's glazed a bit. Most notably on the back side. See the "smearing" of the fibers? Almost looks like the clutch had oil on it, causing it to slip.

Why did the previous owner get rid of that clutch?

I would be willing to bet that he, or someone, glazed the shit out of the clutch, and he was slipping after a few minor mods. Even further, I'd suspect that he took it to the dealership, and one of the special ed's there had fun in the car.

He upgraded to an exedy unit.....I know because he sent it to me in the exedy box.

Yeah I sort of agree with you.....it looks a little iffy.......
