Hey Guys
Does anyone have information on a Legacy engine swap with a SVX 3.3l, will it fit on a 95 legacy? will it for to my 5spd tranny? I can get a engine with 88K miles for $150.
Let me know
Thanks

dont know about the 3.3, i think it is too long. but the ez30 is good fit, and has been done. you may have to modify the radiator support. my subaru mechanic measured a svx motor and a impreza bay and it was too long. the legacy bay is a little bigger but not much. you would probably not be able to keep the abs.
however it will mate up to your transmission and it will probably sit in the same spot on the stock mounts.
plan for alot of time w/the wiring.
i would love to see this happen as the ez30 is still a very expensive engine.

Since transmission swaps into SVXs happen, it should bolt up. I've read of one of these in an Impreza and it requires a lot of custom fab work and nightmarish wiring.

There was a 90-91 Legacy for sale on this board with a big lift kit and an SVX engine...

an eg is just an ej with two more cyls, all the mounting is the same.
Look at this picture and tell me an eg33 wont fit in a bd/bg:

Well, obviously since the EG is sitting up in that engine bay, it can be worked around.
Likely just have to use the brackets from the SVX to pull the radiator forward some. There's a good bit of space to move it forward, espically when you get rid of the Air Conditioning stuff.

Forgive my ignorance and sorry to side track, other than the obvious increase in displacement, how much more power does the SVX put out compared to our 22T's? BTW, Neo, I like where this is going and would like to see more.

The SVX is rated at like 230hp, while the stock EJ22T is rated at 160hp.
I would love to have an EG33 powered Legacy (espically if it was supercharged like the one above). But I wouldn't scrap an EJ22T for one.

i think this could be worded better
the eg33 is rated at 230hp, 240lb/ft. The ej22t is rated at 160hp, 180lb/ft. They are completely different engines, arriving at their power in different ways. The ej is far more readily tunable, but the eg would be capable of more power and still be user friendly given bottomless funds (oh boy, bottomless funds!)
If you dont already know all that, such a swap would be more than you'd want to attempt.

Skid and guys
I am starting the project very soon i just need some more resources about the swap, as far as the a/c goes i'm planning to leave it in since the 95 legacy has a big nose, the condenser would fit far to the front. I will have pics and web site with all the swap info as i go. the engine i am getting has only 86K miles and is being pulled off of a 94 SVX that was severely hit on the side. As far as money goes thats not a problem, a spare car to use during the swap!? i got my 86 Brat, The Fullfillment of driving a eg33 legacy? Priceless..., well i'll keep you guys posted but if any of you have any info regarding the swap, please let meknow
Thanks

Tear the engine down first and rebuild it. That way you won't have to do this whole ordeal again when something goes wrong.
If funds aren't an issue, you should consider going FI and standalone. It'll not only make wiring "easier" (I use quotes because it's not going to be easy anyway), but it'll help make more power and retain drivability.

Doesn't Cobb reinforce open-deck blocks vertically to similar effect as the EJ2507 with metal rods? Hmm ...

Legos...
It will bolt up to both the tranny and the engine mounts, no problemo. The only issue requiring any skill is the wiring. Head over to NASIOC and do a search for a guy named Anders. He has an SVX engine in his GC chassis. He has very detailed information of what was required, and IIRC even has a blow by blow with pics up on his own site...

it is a ez30 in anders green's car. he thought the eg33 eould be too long and heavy. here is his site for FAQs about the ez30 swap.
