Paint the stockers...

Since I have some dope summer wheels, I want to paint the stock WRX wheels.
I want my winter wheels to look different than my stock wheels.
So I'm trying to decide on what color.
I saw an Acura RSX in the latest Sport Compact Car that had green tinted ADR wheels, and they looked pretty dope.
I was considering going a similar route.
I want to paint them satin black, then to a blue-flake clear coat or something. I want them to look similar to the new Obisidian Black of the 05 Legacy 2.5GT.
That, or perhaps a satin black with a really thin coat of bronze and then a clear coat.
What are your guys' opinions?

Body color - like totally awesome '80's dude!
I'm getting Torque Thrust-style Forrester wheels and having the spokes powdercoated gray with the lip bare alloy. A bit of a nod to the old school.

Nah, no body color. I don't think that would look that great

Yeah, I was just kidding. I never liked the old Porsche turbos that usually had the body-colored BBS wheels. As tasteless as the Testarossa. Yuck.
How about dark gray or yellow? The yellow may be a little much, but I do think it looks good with the blue.

Dark gray might be an option.
I just want something different. Perhaps a grat or gunmetal would look cool.
I'll have to see what my color options are from the store first.

paint the spokes black or gunmetal and leave the lip regular.

I would stick with something subtle and classy. Not red, yellow, orange or any loud color. Gunmetal, black, gray, or bronze all look good. a subtle bronze or metalic black would look good with your green. Whatever you decide, post pictures.

I'm thinking of painting my stockers flat black. My wheels have rash so anything is better. I'm wondering if I should sand blast them first or just scuff and paint??

I'm gonna scuff them up with 800 grit, just so the paint has something to stick to.

Time to move on. In my area everyone an his brother has WRXs. I'm weird..I need a car most people don't have to be happy. When my wifes car is paid for then it's time to shop again. The Leg will do for now.

Aren't you glad I got you turned onto the Turbo Legacy?

Yes...but my bank account hates me for it. I truely don't know why people knock the 4.44 gears. It's a kick in the butt to drive even with the bad bearing. I drove it on the highway thinking the RPMs would be bad...it's not. Plus you can stay out of boost with that type of gearing advantage even with the tiny vf11.
I have seen one turbo legacy on the road besides mine, I guess I'm an attention whore. I have a new engine lined up, turbo to follow shortly. I don't think I will keep the SAAB IC setup....again I want to be different:)

Hehe, all of our bank accounts hate us for it
I'm going with a different IC option in the spring. Hopefully I can sort suspension sometime between now and then too.

Talk about thread highjacking:) This is the BAC/Dan info hour:) IMO the SAAB setup hurts more than helps, unless you change the hood scoop. I bet the stocker scoop pulls in little air, I always thought the WRX scoop was on the small side even. The legacy scoop is meant to vent not pull in air...i think.

The SAAB unit is alright. I mean, after a run, I'll feel it and it'll be cold, so that's saying SOMETHING.
Yea, our scoop is restrictive and not qiote the best flowing. It'd be cool if we had a bigger scoop, but at the same time, it's just as easy to drop the IC to the front.

I just painted mine for the winter to give her some character. That way I can chip these all to hell and just get my 17's in the summer time.
