Burning off the exhaust could be a bad valve cover gasket. Smoke out the exhuast pipe would be bad rings or valves

I know my car uses a little oil when I run in the 3-4k rpms for extended times on the highway. However it did this even before, when I first got the car, so I'm not overly concerned. It may be a little more pronounced now since the gearing is lower in the MT.

I posted this as a joke. I've never seen a gasket with cracks in it before! I was burning quite a lot of oil. Fixed now, and my interior smells great.
